The People

The native Costa Ricans are very friendly and helpful here - Pura Vida (Pure Life). Before Pavones was settled, about 40-50 years ago, the native Guyami Indians called Pavones their home. The majority of the Indians now reside in a reservation in the nearby mountains, although they are often in town in their colorful dress while shopping or selling their handmade items. The native Costa Ricans in Pavones are not city dwellers. They are hard working fishermen, farm workers, ranchers and laborers. The native Costa Ricans enjoy meeting nice, friendly people who enjoy the nature and culture of their country. Here in Pavones, you will find nice people from all over the world who have moved here from Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Australia and Central America.
